Spectacular with flaws
And those flaws certainly weren’t the swans or “the stranger”. The lead swan dancer was beyond terrific … unbelievable performance throughout, great acting ability and stage presence. Worth the massively expensive ticket on his own. All the dancers were great, though I was most unimpressed by the Prince. If I’d been his mother I’d have thrown him out for being such a whiner!! Grief!
Mind you. The Prince had a rubbish part compared with being a swan. He spent half his time running pointlessly back and forth, or off the side of the stage with his arm outstretched like something from Benny Hill.
The first 45 minutes of the show were pretty pointless. Loads of walking around and bowing and little else. It was boring. And the “girlfriend” … embarrassingly unfunny. I cringed every time she appeared. Again, a terrible part to have, especially as the lady was a great dancer when given the chance.
Plus, two of the most poignant musical themes were wasted on a giant Swan’s matchbox and an old lady wheeling a shopping trolley. Weird.
Well, yes, it’s a show I’d like to see again, for the swans and the second act. Are there reduced price tickets for coming in at about 45 minutes in?!?! Hehe

Outstanding
It was groundbreaking for a reason back in 1995. Have seen the ballet danced classically, so it is great to see such a radically different interpretation. Great sets, costumes, and lighting. Funny, yet dramatic. Great blend of dancing styles. So much going on on the stage all the time. Genuine bucket list tick.
